How To Get The Most Out Of Your Chiropractic Care

Seeing a chiropractor is one of the best things you can do to get closer to a healthier and happier life. Chiropractic care has long been a favorite form of manual therapy for people experiencing pain in their joints and muscles as it is both non-invasive and doesn’t require the use of drugs to experience results. But how can you make the most out of your chiropractic sessions? Whether it’s your first appointment or you’re a returning patient, these tips can be useful for you.

Drink water & go on a walk

If this is your first time visiting our offices, Doctor Doug or Dr. Mike will evaluate your medical history and discuss your concerns with you. This is an important step in your journey as it assures we know of any preexisting conditions or injuries that may be causing discomfort in your life. However, before showing up to your first appointment, we recommend that you drink plenty of water, so you’re hydrated and maybe even take a short walk to get your muscles and joints active. Even doing some light stretching can help ensure you’re fully relaxed before your appointment.

After your adjustment

After your first adjustment, you’re likely to feel an immediate improvement in your symptoms. However, you may experience some soreness or headache following an adjustment. This is normal and nothing to worry about. If you experience soreness or a headache, simply apply ice or heat, drink plenty of water, and do some gentle stretching.

Exercise

Now, we’re not saying you have to become the next Arnold Schwarzenegger (only if you want to), but exercising regularly will have amazing benefits to your body and your mental health.

Exercising consistently will not only help you maintain your flexibility, but will help strengthen your back, which can help prevent back, shoulder, and neck pain.

Consistency

Finally, it’s important to follow your chiropractor’s recommendations. Following their plan of return visits, lifestyle changes like the foods you eat, the exercises you do, and more are all important in working toward improving your health.

As many of us know, Rome wasn’t built in a day, so we shouldn’t expect our bodies to fix themselves overnight. It takes time, but with the right dedication and consistency, you’ll reach your goals and be on your way to a more proactive lifestyle.
